I'm fairly confident this is a genetic thing. It will vary from person to person depending on the unique genes they were born with, genetic mutations that occured after birth, and genetic insults from the impacts of disease and environment.

As for the tyrosine dosage, that is very easy to customize. At the health food store or Whole Foods Market, get a bag of "OO" empty gel caps. Empty the powder of the tyrosine capsule onto a flat plate. The next step is exactly what cocaine users do. Don't do it with cocaine. Do it with tyrosine powder. That is, with a single edged razor blade draw the powder into a line. Shape it so that it is about the same width and height the length of the line. Then you can cut it into whatever pieces you want. For example, a 500mg line divided into four would be 125mg each. Then take the portion of the line you divided, use the razor blade to push it onto a knife, and then dump it into the empty gel cap. You now have your own custom 125mg capsule. Or whatever other size you might want.

Sometimes it can make it easier to mix the powder with something else, such as rice flour. It depends on how hard it is to manipulate whatever particular powder you are dealing with. Some are fluffy and easy, others are granular and more finnicky. Flour mixed in can help, if needed.

There is some error in this method since it is all visual. But the eyes are pretty accurate. You can tell if one portion is more than another. The doses will be very close, with any differences not being significant enough to notice.

Long story made short, just because the tyrosine doses are sold in 500mg does not at all mean you are limited to only that choice. You can create whatever size dose you want in about 3 minutes.
