I recently switched to the generic teva lamotrigine. So far, no problems. I would at least stay on the med if it's helping. I don't know about other generics, could you try the brand Lamictal? What dose are you taking? I always got some aches/pains when increasing the dose but don't have any problems right now. I haven't heard of weight gain being a problem with this particular medication.
