Whats the effect of Benzodiazepines on Dopamine etc?

How do Ativan Xanax et al effect Dopamine (or other neurotransmitters cept of course GABA) which could explain the subtle euphoria they produce? Also is the sedative and amnesic effect just a start up symptom?
