Clomiprimine - side effects

Posted by Justherself54 on July 8, 2010, at 16:55:22

I've been at 150 mg clomi for a couple of months. It has really helped, although I'm waiting for blood work to see where I'm at. I'm hoping I can do one more increase to 175 mg. I feel that I'm close to remission but just need a little extra oomph, as I still have some problem with motivation and focus. Modafinil does help a bit, although I'm wondering if Ritalin would be more effective.

Having said that, the dry mouth side effect has become very bothersome. The dryness seems to be affecting not only my mouth, but my throat. I am constantly hoarse when speaking and the very back of my pallet actually feels a bit swollen. My throat is very red and inflamed looking, although there are no signs of thrush that I'm aware of. It has become quite uncomfortable.

My GP recommended a saliva replacement spray, but it really doesn't do much at all. The pharmacist suggested I talk to my pdoc about switching to another med and I looked at him as if he'd lost his mind. I told him after all the AD's I've taken that have not worked or that have pooped out, I'd rather completely loose my voice than stop a med that has done so much for me.

Chewing gum makes my stomach upset. Sucking on candies helps a bit. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
