These kinds of terms are just ways for docs to say, "we don't have a clue what is wrong with this patient and we have not a clue how to investigate it, but we don't want to appear impotent so let's give it a technical name."
I don't know, I just don't find labels reliable or useful. You already knew you had episodes of rage, so someone charges you $200 to rephrase it as "intermittent explosive disorder". Geez.
There is so much overlap between the different supposed psychiatric disorders, so much subjective interpretation that will vary from doc to doc, and weak reliability in choosing meds based on the given label, so I just don't find them useful.
I find it more useful to instead do two things:
1. Try herbs and/or meds and/or supplements that are known to have an impact on the symptom.
2. Begin the hunt to rule things in or out as causes of whatever is impacting the brain.> Has anyone been diagnosed with this and what meds do you take for this disorder?
