Adderall is easier to notice when it's in your system-- it has more nervous-like feelings, in your peripheral nervous system. Dexedrine, you basically only notice it when you are bothering to do work.
It will not make you do work that bores you. If you take too much, like any stimulant, you will hyper-focus on boring things and feel awful.
I advise re-considering what you expect from your meds are they suppose to let you shave off an hour of sleep? Help you spring out of bed and take a shower? Clean? Read boring subjects that you wouldn't otherwise read? Let you do work in an environment you typically find yourself using to procrastinate (rather, than say, the library?)
None of these things are suggestive of realistic expectations of any stimulant. And if they are things you expect from your meds, you are doing damage to your whole lifestyle, mentally and physically. It means you need to understand life is challenging, and pills do not make it any easier. If you feel you can't do things like cleaning without them, that's not ADD. That's either dependence or a manifestation of poor mood and requires a lot of behavioral interventions through _therapy_.
thankfully, you are wise enough to recognize this somewhat and stop it. be proud of that.
but as a general tip:in college, a friend told me this:
"The trick to adderall is to *start* the reading/paper *before* it kicks in."
