Ok so I'm switching from trimipramine(100mg) + lofepramine(70mg) to Amitryptyline(100mg). This is how my pdoc told me to do it:
1-Stop lofepramine strait away (small dose anyway)
2-Cut the trimipramine strait down to 25mg/day for 10 days then stop.
3-During those 10 days take amitryptyline 50mg/day
4-After 10 days when i stop the trimipramine increase the Amitryptyline to 75mg/day for 2 weeks then, if needed, add the final 25mg.(you can see my whole current regime [before switching] below as my signature)
I have some questions:
Does this sound about correct? Should it be safe like this and what might be any possible negative effects or interactions? Any better suggestions on how best to switch?
Anyone else switched between TCAs whilst taking an MAOI? What was your experience?I will be continuing my 80mg/day isocarboxazid & 3-4mg/day clonazepam.
Also, is it known for trimipramine to cause withdrawal effects if stopping too quickly? Think I read somewhere there a chance they might appear. And can anyone see any specific or possible problems with the plan?
I've already taken 25mg today and felt fine, in other words nothing happened.
