Just to shed more light on what is happening. I seem to have frequent cycles and was on a teeny dose of Risperdal 0.5mg plus mood stabilisers. I cycled into a more severe depression and in hospital was changed to Seroquel (200mg) plus Sertraline (75mg) as well as the usual mood stabilisers. Interestingly I didn't switch on the SSRI as I often do. I did some research and could only find one study that supports low/mid dose Seroquel with mood stabilisers for bipolar. Most other research supports low dose for off label use - OCD,PTSD, insomnia and anxiety. The recommended dose for maintenance with Lithium is 400 - 800mg.
As I'm on 200mg I asked my pdoc about this and he said what I'm on should help stabilise things. Ok, I trust him, so far so good, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. But I would really like to hear from some success stories with Seoquel, I have had a bad run lately. I appreciate your thoughts, Sam
