Hi,
I have been on Nardil for nearly a year now and always had really bad trouble staying awake during the day. I'd fall asleep at my desk at work several times a day. I'd fall asleep standing up on the subway. During the day on the weekends. Pretty much any environment.I tried provigil and that didn't feel like it did much. Then my PDoc suggested Ritalin, which is technically contraindicated. However he'd had 8/10 success with previous Nardil patients and frankly I was just sick of being so tired and such a liability during the afternoon.
So I started taking 5mg Ritalin on an as-needed basis, usually when I feel that strong, slow-breathing sleepiness rolling in. Since then I've not fallen asleep once. I still feel tired, but not leaden-limbed tired. I can still function and sometimes it makes me super-alert, like it must do for all the ADHD kids it's prescribed for.
Anyway, if anyone else out there is suffering from the daytime sleepiness, consider asking your PDoc for low-dose Ritalin. It's generic & cheap, fast-acting and non-addictive. Also, I'm on 90mg Nardil, which is quite a large dosage to combat!
