I'm currently taking Parnate at 30mg (to be increased to 60mg gradually) and am also taking 150mg of Seroquel at night. I take the Seroquel for insomnia because ambien and lunesta eventually stopped working for me. But I don't know if taking the Seroquel is interfering with the benefits of taking an MAOI.
I was previously on Nardil and it improved my atypical depression for the first time (although I hit a wall and stopped improving). I had to stop taking it though because I was getting dizzy all the time and passing out. Now I'm on Parnate and hope it will have less side effects and break through that barrier of depression which prevents me from enjoying activities.
My question I guess is whether the Seroquel might be getting in the way of improving my depression while I'm taking Parnate? Last summer, I stopped taking Seroqul for about 1 week and started feeling a little bit better (although it was only a small improvement). I started taking it again though because of sleep problems. My doctor keeps telling me that Seroquel improves atypical depression, but from what I read, Seroquel mostly works with bipolar patients and manic symptoms.
I just want to create the best opportunity for the Parnate to work. But this is hard to do when I need other meds like Seroquel to sleep. Maybe I should go back to taking a higher dose of Ambien?
