> lately my legs have been all bruised up! i've had 2 odd-looking large dark splotches, really purple, and my entire right shin is a light shade of blue! i'm not a hypochodnriac but i was beginning to think i've got cancer! today i read the little foldy piece of paper that came with my neurontin and found this:
>
> Hematologic and Lymphatic System: *Frequent*: purpura most often described as bruising resulting from physical trauma...
>
> Dermatological: *Infrequent*: skin discolor

I've also experienced a bit of hair loss and skin rash from the medication. I take 300 mg a couple times a day and my prescription says Gabapentin instead of Neurontin, if that is important.
I have read that bruising, as well as bleeding under the nails (which has not happened, but used to happen when I was drinking and taking other meds) is a sign of distress in the liver. Too many toxins. So I'm wondering if my dose is too high for my body. I am skinny, and small, and 300mg is a high dose.
The 300mg was just the initial dose. I need to consult my doctor and see if a lower dose would work. The medication helps me with a feeling of agitation that goes on with me all the time. I don't want to discontinue this med because it makes me much more comfortable in situations where I have to be still.
Good luck to you.
