I am on parnate and have to admit that I eat small amounts of cheese -- feta, blue cheese, cheddar, swiss, parmesan. Like an ounce or so. So far, no problems.
When I started Parnate, I said to my p-doc, well maybe they don't prescribe these much because someone could eat a bunch of salami and cheese, wash it down with draft beer and chianti and just check out. He said, that's not the way it works. These are tendencies, not certainties.
Nevertheless, I was hospitalized recently and the only decent sounding things on the menu were greek salad, ceasar salad, chef salad and chicken quesadilla. They wouldn't let me have any of those on the MAOI diet. I was stuck with tuna sandwiches.
