Ritalin 'come down' anxiety + muscle pain

Posted by pedr on April 11, 2011, at 17:44:15

Hi,
I'm on Nardil 90mg and it makes me fall asleep during the day. I just tried Provigil for a couple of months and it didn't work out, in summary. So my PDoc prescribed Ritalin (immediate release tabs) and I've been taking 20mg when I start getting too tired at work.

Generally it's worked pretty well - It's stopped me from falling asleep and has given me bursts of positivity, improved mood and outlook. However, when its effect stops about 5-6 hours later, I get very strong anxiety :
- My mind races (not good cos I have OCD)
- my gut "feels" incredibly nervous (like v.unpleasant, v.powerful butterflies)
- my legs and arms go to jelly
- I feel incredibly anxious and quite emotional.

Has anyone else experienced this strong come-down? Anyone else taking Nardil&Ritalin?

Also on Friday night when trying to sleep, my legs ached very intensely. I could barely fall asleep. My shins, calves and the sides of my knees were very sore to the touch. On Saturday morning, walking and moving around was pretty uncomfortable. I can't think of anything other than the Ritalin that might have caused this. By Sunday it had all but gone. A bit concerning.

Has anyone else experienced muscular/joint pain like that?

I am trying to get hold of generic Ritalin LA to see if that helps.

Thanks.
