Hi. I'm a 36 yo female. Dx is bipolar II. I've been on lexapro for, oh, 8 years? (Also on lamictal since bipolar dx 4 years ago). Have been tapering for about three weeks (down from 20 mg to 5 mg currently)in anticipation of starting cymbalta to see if it will help with chronic pain (as well as depression symptoms). I also started the pill (generic for seasonale) about six weeks ago. Here's the thing - my libido is back. I'm in shock. It was never gone entirely but pretty damn close. My instinct is that tapering off the lexapro wouldn't affect my libido so quickly, and that it may have something to do with the lady hormones instead, but I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or has any thoughts. If this is what it's like to be off an AD I'm tempted to just try to get all the way off the lexapro and stay off (although the other variable is that I've never tapered/stopped successfully without a major crash - so I'm cautious. Also the libido thing has never happened before during a taper.) Maybe I'm answering my own question?
Anyway - thanks in advance. Lots of variables here, I know, but any thoughts are appreciated.
