I am dubious that Provigil is acting as a DRI in areas of the brain important to treat depression. Most of its wake-promoting effect is due to its actions to increase the release of orexins, also called hypocretins, from the hypothalamus. That's not to say that Provigil does not bind to DA transporter. It does. However, it is ambiguous as to the importance of this property.
