But the important one is if it effects your liver and you drink with it, it could cause liver damage. You'll have to read the Prescribing info on Tianeptine and find out why its bad. If it says that Tianeptine can impare liver function and you should monitor liver function. Then it not a good idea to drink alcohol at the same time you take your med. Maybe waiting a couple hours would be better. Atleast thats what I do with niaspan. If I drink at same time as med my liver enzimes get high. If I wait 2 hours to drink no problems.

Zyprexa gives good advice. If I remember right, tianeptine's cousin amineptine was rarely associated with liver problems, but that was usually in addicts taking more than 50 times the daily dose. I don't recall hearing anything similar with tianeptine. If you're worried, get a liver function test and that should clear you.For what it's worth, drinking alcohol had no effect on my tianeptine regimen that I was able to discern. I don't think I'd worry over it. And, yes, I think 2 hours, or even 90 minutes, is plenty of time to allow your body to absorb the medication before drinking ethanol. I don't think it would affect absorption substantially at that point.
