Lamictal has a relatively good reputation on cognitive side-effects, at least in comparison to other drugs in its class, which are some of the worst. However, in my experience, it was pretty bad.
I never took more than 50mg/day, but it gave me all kinds of brain-fog and cognitive deficits, including, if I remember right, word-finding problems, though I have these to some extent without anything to exacerbate them. It's possible Lamictal was bad on cognitive S/E for me because, well, my mind doesn't function all that well in the first place, and any further disturbance makes the entire system go to sh*t.
Anyway, going off Lamictal sucked (temporarily lowered mood--part of the discontinuation syndrome), but my cognitive problems resolved a few weeks after getting rid of it.
