Paxil can put on lots of weight, too. It is probably the worst of the SSRIs in this regard. I guess you could try desipramine instead of nortriptyline. People generally do not gain weight with it. With Paxil, it is important to reduce the dosage of the tricyclic by approximately 50%. Paxil blocks the enzyme (CYP450 2D6) that is responsible for breaking down desipramine. The same thing is true of Prozac.
