I started on EmSam a few weeks ago and was up to 9 mgs as of this week.
I don't want to take it anymore. While small, I am currently having the second food-related reaction, with the headache, in a week. The first sent me to the ER, as my normally 90/60 BP was in the 150s over 80s. It went back down by itself during the 5 hour ER wait after the first reading.
At the CVS this evening, my BP measured 139/85, which is way high for me, but not ER high. I went to the bathroom, and took off the patches. With a home bp monitor, it's already down to the 128 range--but the headache is still here.
I had checked it a few times since the ER visit, and it had been around 105/65.
Tonight, all I ate that was not a fresh veggie was a small smear (maybe 2 tablespoons) of packaged hummus from a health food store. The headache came on, and I googled two ingredients, citric acid and spices. Evidently either can have MSG.
The first night it was a cup of vegetable bisque in a restaurant.
I am really surprised, as I had 2 reactions during the many years I took parnate (both to hidden MSG), and 2 reactions in a week with the supposedly more tolerable emsam.
Very disappointing. And surprising. Please do watch what you eat with EmSam, even though many, many people seem to have no reactions.
