I think most of us are not so much "obsessive" about treatment as we are "intensely focused" on getting well. The problem is really in the potential for *impulsiveness* and *compulsive* self-medication.
Our quality of life depends on successful treatment. When doctors don't get it right the first few times, one can't help but to do some medical research to figure out why.
I won't recommend this to anyone with MDD, but Abilify is a drug than can be initiated using loading doses. I would recommend this for people who are treating mania or schizophrenia, though. The problem with doing this for MDD is that people often do better at 2 mg than they do at 20 mg. Often, with MDD, dosages in excess of 2 - 5 mg produce unacceptable side effects.
