In reply to other meds for sleep besides klonopin, posted by JohnLA on March 25, 2012, at 13:00:12
50mg of Benadryl(diphenhydramine hydrochloride) with .5mg of clonazepam works for my Nardil induced insomnia. I have always been very sensitive to the medications that affect the histamine receptors. Even after years of almost daily use it still knocks me out. Not everyone responds this way to the older antihistamines. Some people will get wired on them. But, I have never seemed to develop tolerance to the drowsiness side effect. The only problem I've had is rebound insomnia if I go off the Benadryl.
Be well,
