I'm very aware of the dangers, I also try to stay aware of the dangers while taking opiates. I've gone so far as to ask that my doctors prescribe the opiates that do not contain acetaminophen.I'm not trying to persuade others but I even found easily available instructions on how to remove the acetaminophen from pills that contain it. I haven't done it though.
Many people die from opiates through abuse. I can see why. A person is in a very addictive state and doesn't stop to think about the consequences. I find myself in that battle at times.
A true double sword for me as, I thoroughly enjoy the opiates despite the dangers and side effects.
