I was on prozac and zyprexa for quite a while and it was a pretty good combination in many ways. That's what symbyax is, prozac and zyprexa combined.
Anyway, yeah, I think that's an excellent choice except for one thing. That is, I think there are benefits to taking the two meds separately, two different prescriptions, so you can have better flexibility in adjusting the dose of one or the other or both. Symbyax is rather fixed and doesn't give you many options.
But then, I think symybyax is not generic, which if that is true means it is real branded prozac and real branded zyprexa, not generics. That's a huge plus in my opinion.
So I guess it's kind of toss up. No matter, what I am saying is the primary ingredients of symbyax I think make a special syngeristic effect that it is different than either of them added together. If that makes any sense? Good med. I just prefer as much dosing flexibility as possible. And I strongly favor brand over generic, especially when it comes to prozac.
