I would like to chime in here and say that I have been sick and trying treatments for 20 years. I got progressively worse for the past 10-15 years. The treatments included ECT, DBS, and just about every med combo known to man including SNRIs such as Effexor. Finally I tried nortriptyline combined with sertraline and I slowly started to improve. I never got more than maybe 50% healthy, but it was a better response than I have seen in more than 12 years to just about anything else.Unfortunately I have maxed out on the dosage for nortriptyline and the effects are starting to wear off. Not a good thing obviously since I will be back to no options but I will admit that something about nortrip + sertraline did something that nothing else would for awhile.
