I guess the issue is that the teat costs $600, and the treatment cocts $20 or 30 (4 weeks of various cheap antibiotics).... in a world of scarce resources, a case could be made for treating everybody suspected of having lymes with 4 weeks worth of diocycycline rather than tersting them, and saving the health care system $ 570
