Instead of thinking in terms of distinct stages that one passes forward through in one direction, it might help to recognize that one can experience several "stages" at once, and also hop forward and backwards between these stages as different feelings emerge.

It can be a confusing time during which the biological meets the psychological, and makes it difficult to differentiate between the two. I hope your new treatment helps. What changes are being made? Are you already on Effexor? If so, what dosage are you taking? Some people do not respond well to it until they reach a dosage of 300 mg/day.

Hey Scott:Thanks a ton for the post. Slightly ironic thing is I am a fourth year Bachelor of Social Work student, who is halfway through a special seminar course on Death & Dying. This may sound like a sombre subject, but the reality is that only the fact we all die is what gives us life..or trying to make something out of this life.
Med wise...I have cranked the Zoloft to 300mgs (some studies go up to 400mg), added 300mgs of Effexor, but the doc today only gave me Risperdal and clonazepam. Gotta see my regular doc to talk about adding another antipsychoic.
I am, as good as can get in my situation..given reality..lol. Thanks, Jay
Dx: Bipolar II with dysphoric mania
Current Rx: 300mgs Zoloft, 150mg of Effexor XR, 4mg's of clonazepam, 5mg's Risperdal, 300mg of Lyrica, 12mg's of Melatonin, 0.4mg's of Clonidine & Androgel.
