Went through same symptoms. Only thing that gave me relief was adding lamictal to effexor. Been on this combo for about 15 years. no side effects from lamictal. Atypical depression is one of the red flag for an underlying bipolar affective disorder. I NEVER had a manic episode. How about Nardil at a low dose and a mood stabilizer such as lamictal. Effexor is a great drug too and is activating.
