I have been diagnosed as BPII, BPNOS, anxiety/depression. Who knows.
What I do know is that Trileptal has kept me from feeling hypomanic.
However, I have had trouble sleeping for 20 years, I go through periods of depression, anxiety, feeling obsessive and overly sensitive to things.
I wonder if my insomnia, my obsessiveness and worry over stupid things (things that other people brush off) are symptoms of more of a personality disorder.
I don't hear voices and I'm not schizophrenic and my doc says I'm not classically psychotic.
But the only thing that seems to help me is my full dose of Trileptal for stability. Doesn't help with sleep though.
And for the depression, 40mg of Geodon works, even though I'm not schizophrenic or psychotic.
So what does this mean?
20mg of Geodon plummets me further into depression, while 40mg at dinner gives me great sleep and energy the next day and lifts my depression.
My father and sister clearly suffer/suffered from bouts of psychosis and refused meds and their lives were disasters.
I just wonder if docs aren't too quick to diagnose BP of some sort the way they did Depressed 25 years ago?
