Promising drugs in the clinical trials pipeline?

Posted by TriedEveryMedication on October 12, 2013, at 21:47:09

Does anyone here follow new drug news or what's in the pipeline?

Over the years I've seen a lot of things make it to phase III trials and then just quietly disappear.

Right now, new drugs:

Metadoxine - going into phase 3 trials for ADHD and fragile X. - "a nonstimulant 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor antagonist"... I think maybe a 5-HT3 agonist?

Levomilnacipran/Fetzima - just approved - some kind of minacipran derivative - SNRI

ALKS 5461/ Samidorphan-Buprenorphine combo - fast tracked for MDD. Seems fairly novel, a combo of μ-opioid antagonist and mu agonist.

Tedatioxetine - last I heard it was in phase II - serotonin, norepi and dopamine reuptake inhibitor

vortioxetine - SNRI-ish with some other stuff going on. Just approved by the FDA, scored superior to effexor and sweat-balta err, I mean cymbalta with fewer sides.

various orexin antagonists - Merck's got denied by the FDA, there were others; a lot of buzz on this receptor seems to have faded.

Pozanicline - a nicotinic receptor agonist, I thought it was in clinical trials, but it seems to have fallen off the map. Another fizzle?

Anything new you know about?
