Does anyone have experience with both Amantadine and Memantine? From what I understand Amantadine has some more action on dopamine, and I've heard it advertised for things like motivation/anhedonia moreso than memantine. The memantine is more of a (admittedly weak) NDMA receptor antagonist (although amantadine is as well).
I trialed memantine for focus and mood issues. I didn't feel any changes after a month and the cognitive disruptions never went away, so I stopped. I was basically a walking zombie for a month - so tired that I'd start crying from it!
I honestly have anhedonia issues moreso than depression issues at this point. Would an amantadine trial be counterproductive? Trying to understand the differences between these two drugs.
In addition, does anyone know if it's safe to take amantadine with other things that work on dopamine? I take a very very low dose (50 mg every 2 days) of amisulpride for stability. I started for anhedonia, and it didn't work for that, but it helped smooth out the actual depression and crying spells.
