When I had my hypertensive reaction it was 230/130, so that was IMO dangerously high, I thought.
Would think a systolic over 200 is high but the more critical reading is the diastolic. Usually docs don't consider hypertension to be that much of an issue unless the diastolic goes above 100 and stays above 100. Diastolic readings 110 and above are "dangerously high" when they are sustained. And that reading along with symptoms of a headache, sweating, blurred vision are all indicative of a critical event.I would not feel safe without a cuff when the symptoms lead me to suspect a hypertensive event.
