I combined tiagabine (Gabitril) with Parnate and did not notice any difference in bipolar depression. I am not aware of any interaction between the two drugs. Tiagabine is an unpredictable drug. It can even cause seizures. Some people find it helpful for anxiety and insomnia. Other people become very agitated on it, even though it is a GABA reuptake inhibitor.

Nardil, besides inhibiting the MAO enzyme, also inhibits the GABA transaminase enzyme. Supposedly, this yields an increase in GABA levels. Some theorize that it is this latter action that produces the robust anxiolytic effects that Nardil displays. Perhaps a GABA reuptake inhibitor like tiagabine would work synergistically with Nardil.
