No, the bariatric surgery does things like eliminates sleep apnea and treats type II diabetes (illnesses associated with being obese) and these illnesses oftentimes are associated with treatment resistant mood disorders. In my case, treating my sleep apnea has made a HUGE difference in how I feel.
Obesity causes many comorbid illnesses that can cause severe fatigue and lethargy that can masquarade as "depression."
