They beat the hell out of nurses - perhaps more than nurses beat the hell out of themselves. They work too hard. Did you ever notice how many nurses are overweight - especially around the middle? It's not because they eat too much or exercise too little. I think they are constantly flooded with cortisol as a reaction to unrelenting stress. They are devoted to their work in ways that many people don't fully appreciate.
