I would think/assume it'd be a good thing. Many pharmaceuticals generate some oxidative stress, so...antioxidants for those of us on Rx pills=a good thing, usually.
Many Rx pills can lower CoQ10 levels. I take a couple 200mgs capsules of the supposedly "better absorbed" (read: $pendier) version w/ a high fat meal when I think about it. I looked it up, and the AP/AAP drugs deplete a lot of things (including CoQ10, which is also recycled by ALA), as do many other pharmaceuticals.
A lot of ALA's value comes in recycling everything else. Have you considered some basic supplementation, like high dose C, natural form E, some b-complex, etc.?
I push Orthomolecular on everybody, I know, but...its worked well for me (with the meds), and I think it makes sense, intuitively.
Blah blah blah...how much ALA are you considering? Way back when, I did a detox and I took 1.2-1.8 grams/day, with other stuff. I seem to recall that it got the job done.
Good luck!
