it really is. if you'll notice...lots of people on "antidepressants" are given sedatives. others (I'm guessing with accomodating doctors..) are given stimulants, perhaps wellbutrin. the add on drugs help throw the balance in the desired direction, hopefully (there's of course...lots of failures and straight up horror stories coming out of psychiatry...).
shrinks know that ssri and ssnri drugs, in particular, make people more docile and Managable. that's why they're used in anger management and sometimes in oppositional defiant disorder. I'm thinking it might also explain why they're used so frequently in women.
