Dr.Abram Hoffer, the Orthomolecular shrink, treated some patients with LSD...I think his patients were mostly struggling with alcoholism, but I could be wrong.
Pfeiffer used hallucinogens, too. I mean...I think he was a minor player in some of the old school MKULTRA experiments on prisoners and such, but...because I like Orthomolecular so much, I'll give him a pass and just say "it was the times," etc. (shrug).
I'm glad this is happening. I guess 50+/- years is long enough for the bad press and stigma to fade sufficiently for a renewal of interest in these substances for the troubled among us.
The -very- few times I've played around with hallucinogens, I experienced...I suppose a "mood lift," but not like with mood drugs or stimulants. More like...a sense of clarity and peace, even a bit of...if not purpose (good luck finding purpose in a shroom), then at least meaning.
