-most- psychiatrists act that way, lamdage. sad...but true. psychiatry in the 21st century is all about palliatives...its kind of like being given cough syrup with untreated pneumonia.
i had a psychiatrist at the clinic...he got all red faced and surly when i mentioned having a seizure during a rapid Klonopin taper way back when. said stuff under his breath. freaked me out, really it did.
maybe one day psychiatry will give way to...real medicine? LOL. Not to sound bitter. I respond to Abilify, I take gabapentin now and then (prescribed), so I 'get' that chemical fixes are sometimes necessary. its just...
over the long haul, I'd like to either discontinue the neuroleptic, or get to a point at which i can low dose it most of the time. oh, that's another thing...
psychiatrists -hate it- when i talk TD. I"m not "ohhhh, i won't take that! TD!," I just say things like "You know, I'd like to lower the Abilify a bit, reduce my TD risk..." and they get flustered. :-(
oh well. my current prescriber seems low key, not so pretentious, more practical and results-oriented. on the downside...
its looking more and more like this prescriber wants me on -2- "mood stabilizers," because of 'severe Bipolar I' or..whatevs.
