i guess this is for the med experts out there. im going back on wellbutrin. new prescriber, this time its a lower starting dose xl, and a lower target dose, also xl (150---300). abilify stays at 20.
ive read that the ssri and ssnri drugs+'atypicals=faster response, more people responding, sometimes more robust response because of serotonin receptors, etc. i don't get the technical aspects of it, but i think it get it, intuitively.
what i don't understand is wellbutrin+abilify. i do think that, even at 20mgs, abilify helps my tendency towards -severe- depression. i don't know that wellbutrin would be potent enough to lift my depression if i wasn't on the abilify...
and i dont know if could tolerate the wellbutrin, at all, if i wasn't on the abilify.
but other people say wellbutrin+abilify=awesome, so its not just me. any ideas on what's happening in the brain to make it so?
thanks.
