In reply to Low dose Wellbutrin in Schizophrenia, posted by Lamdage22 on September 5, 2019, at 22:50:44
hi. the (very little) literature I've read on the subject--mostly using wellbutrin to curb smoking in those with Schizophrenia, stable on neuroleptics--shows very little in the way of drug induced psychosis, agitation, etc. and, on a personal note...
I'm not really 110% sure of my official label/diagnosis, but i was prescribed up to 400mgs/daily (the SR version...200 x 2) without major problems. Towards the end of treatment, I started getting kinda jittery, like...too much coffee jittery, not crazy insane jittery...so I dropped it. I slept late for a couple days, kinda pensive...no big deal. discontinuation was fairly uneventful, thank goodness.
are stimulants available/widely used where you live? even here--The United States of Adderall-prescribing uppers to those with psychotic disorders is frowned upon, but it does happen...I think its usually Ritalin or Provigil. Just asking, because...I think Ritalin would have fewer drug-drug interactions, plus you'd know fairly quickly if it was good, bad, or just...not worth it. I don't know about Provigil...I think it has some drug-drug interactions, but it has been used in clozapine-treated Schizophrenia people, with some good results.
hope this helps.
