Hi.
I found Effexor to be more stimulating than Cymbalta. I never experienced insomnia with Effexor, although I hear that some do - especially when the dosage is too high. If you experience insomnia immediately upon starting Effexor, it might be worth continuing with it to see if it is only a startup side effect.
