It kept me weight neutral on Nardil for the 2yrs I was on it. You may or may not lose weight on it - some people do, some don't. I didn't lose wt when taking it a Nardil but w.o. it I'm sure I would have gained 20+ more lbs.
Since you're on both Nardil & Zyprexa (which is notorious for being a wt gainer) I think it's worth a try. It has a very big upside health wise beyond it's benefits related to metabolism. Heart heath, neuroprotection, anti-cancer, etc etc. There are a lot of ongoing studies testing it for a lot of non-diabetic ailment. (Httss://scholar.google.com search it for studies).
I recently stopped taking it to make sure it wasn't affecting me moods. I was on Nardil for 2yrd while Marplan was unavailable. During that time on Nardil I had inconsistent moods (cycling) that were like just my bp1 acting up w Nardil. But after switching back to Marplan I decided I wanted to get reset on that (and Lamictal) before potentially reintroducing it. Marplan isn't a huge weight gainer like Nardil so imho it's not a necessity. I personally wouldn't take Nardil (nor Zyprexa) w.o. at least a small amount of metformin. Generally it's well tolerated once you get passed some potential gastro sides (gotta go to the bathroom -now-). It was easy to start/stop for me......
Good luck.
