I just found out that Nefazodone is on manufacturer back order and won't be available until sometime in September.
The pharmacy kept telling me they were out of stock but were expecting more from their distributor. On Monday, I called again to check and they said they were getting the shipment that afternoon so I could pick it up the next day, Tuesday, which was yesterday. Last night I took my last dose. I called again this morning and then they checked with their distributor and told me that the manufacturer has nefazodone on back order and it won't be available until sometime in September!
I have had a couple of times when I missed a dose and it was awful, just awful. I can't even describe what it felt like exactly. There was inability to sleep, agitation, and an indescribable malaise.
My psycho-pharmacologist works part time at the agency I go to. They have one or two other doctors but none on Wednesdays (today). They said they will try to reach my doctor while he is at another practice and ask him to call me but they cannot guarantee that he will. In the meantime I have been calling multiple pharmacies to see maybe there's one that might have some in stock. No luck there.
What I'm asking here, my psychobabble hive-mind friends is--if/when I do speak with my pharmacologist, is there another medication that can substitute for nefazodone? At least to tide me over until Nefazodone becomes available again.
I take nefazodone at night, to augment the antidepressant effects of Effexor, but also to counter the unwanted agitating effects of effexor. I'm wondering--is trazodone a possibility? is there something else that might help?TIA.
