In the control group, 3.6% of the test subjects achieved remission from insomnia. After the initial four-week study, all participants had the option to use the weighted blanket for a 12-month follow-up phase. After 12 months, 92% of weighted blanket users were responders, and 78% were in remission.
About 35% of patients given a placebo will get better. The positive response rate in this study is far too high to attribute it to the placebo effect.
