Generic lamotrigine compared to Lamictal? - Thanks

I appreciate everyone's input.

I'll consider using either Unichem or Taro as a substitute for Lamictal. Right now, my prescription plan will cover GSK Lamictal, but I don't know how much longer this will be available. I take 300 mg/day (150 mg b.i.d.). Retail is over 1000 dollars for a 30 day supply. My impression is that the original TEVA was the best generic. Unfortunately, the original TEVA preparation was discontinued a long time ago. TEVA continues to sell a generic lamotrigine, lamotrigine XR. However, when TEVA bought out another company, they decided to switch production to the manufacturing facilities of their new acquisition. As it turns out, the generic lamotrigine products are the most variable in terms of the clinical efficacy between generic preparations. This difference in efficacy is seen with seizure disorders as well as bipolar depression.
