Hi, Phillipa.
I don't know where the post appears that Jay is referring to.
Omicron is 5 times more transmissible than delta or any other strain we know of to date. There is some speculation that Omicron is less virulent, though. I think we are still awaiting empirical data from South Africa. In the meantime, Omicron has shown itself to be less liable to damage the lungs.
Moderna reported that being innoculated with a booster - 50% of each of the original two doses - protects against Omicron. The booster results in a *37-fold* increase in antibodies. Perhaps having a booster from Pfizer will produce similar results. Review what you can find about the side effects and risks of these two mRNA vaccines compared to the J&J DNA vaccine. Thrombosis has been reported only with the J&J vaccine. The vaccine is designed to use a single DNA sequence of the SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease) viral DNA as its source. Thromobosis (blood clots) represents a risk at a rate of 1 per 100,000 of those vaccinated.
I chose Moderna for myself.
