i'd vote rexulti. aripiprazole has been mostly good to me, but I get some anxiety that feels oddly chemically-induced (not akathisia), so I asked prescriber about rexulti. and...
her experiences have been positive. not a huge step forward over aripiprazole, but less akathisia, seems somewhat better for people prone to bouts of intense depression. and...
yeah. aripiprazole is generally easier to tolerate than drugs that block D2 w/ no partial agonism. that's the -big- appeal for me, especially when one is dealing with full dose, major tranquilizer level dosing. lower doses...seem tricky, to me at least. and...
it seems rexulti is less tricky in dosing as as add-on in people taking antidepressants for bad depression, or at least my prescriber seems to think so sorry to just relay 2nd, 3rd hand observations...its pretty much what I have to offer.
aripiprazole..if I recall correctly...causes less of an increase in deaths over other neuroleptics, old and new. choking, cardiovascular events...pick a reason these drugs are serious and to be prescribed and taken with caution. so...yeah. if I recall correctly, there's still a bump -- and aripiprazole has an unusually high NMS rate vs other atypicals -- but overall it seems less toxic, which certainly explains...
why some studies have reported than patients treated with full doses for the more severe diagnoses express a preference for aripiprazole vs whatever else, and also there's limited data pointing to an improvement in overall quality of life, something not found with many other tranquilizers (old and new...kinda sad, huh?).
ok. so...rexulti is my vote. but not the V one...it really sounds like Haldol or Prolixin, but with the D2 partial agonism thrown in so people don't hate it quite -that- much.
:-) hope this helps
