This is probably a very abstract connection, but computer monitors create high outputs of positive ions. Negative ion generators are sold and used for their antidepressant potential. High output negative ion generators have been tested in double blind trials for their antidepressant potential.

Some studies suggest that high levels of positive ions decrease the production of the catecholamines.
