One is called niacin, but it also has an older name nicotinic acid. That used to get confused with nicotine, so they changed it.
The other form is called niacinamide, but in the older nomenclature, it was called nicotinamide.
Niacin is an excitatory chemical. It is responsible for the niacin flush.
Niacinamide is calming, yet energizing. It's the one you want to take.
