SAM-e or SJW with mood stabilizer?

Has anyone tried SAM-e or St. John's Wort with a mood stabilizer? I'm taking Gabitril for a year. Initially it worked great, now not so great. I'm having my first depressive episode in over a year, and wondering if I need to add something. I have no luck with anti-depressants, have tried everything. I have bipolar II and can get hypomanic with an AD, but wonder if I'd be OK with SAM-E or SJW with the mood stabilizer to protect against hypomania.
